In addition, ashram offers daily Hatha Yoga classes for all levels as well as courses focusing on yogic lifestyle and/or spirituality.
Swami Sivananda is the inspiration behind the teachings of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers, founded by Swami Vishnu-devananda, one of Master Sivananda ‘s main disciples, sent by him to the West in 1957 to teach Classical Yoga and Vedanta. Swami Sivananda is considered the SatGuru of the organization, the Master of Yoga, who in contemporary times revived the classical teachings and made the Synthesis of Yoga accessible to the West through his disciples.
By closely observing the lifestyles and needs of people in our modern world, Swami Vishnudevananda synthesized the ancient wisdom of Yoga into 5 basic principles, which can easily be incorporated into your own pattern of living, to provide a long, healthy and happy life. Proper Exercise – Asana, Proper Breathing – Pranayama, Proper Relaxation – Savasana, Proper Diet – Vegetarian, Positive Thinking and Meditation – Vedanta and Dhyana. The body is a vehicle for the soul, and has specific requirements, which must be fulfilled for it to function smoothly and supply the optimum mileage.
